Front-end Web Developer
Department: Engineering
Location: Lichfield - fully remote
Purpose and objectives of the role
Your main duty is to aid in the development and maintenance of the platform. You will work within a cross-functional team with all levels of experience working as a cohesive unit to help deliver our roadmap. You will seek to develop your own skills and compliment the skills of those around you.
You will work with the team to plan and deliver the roadmap effectively communicating clearly any complexity or doubt. You will work closely with the team and interpret product requirements into coherent development work.
Your main focus will be as frontend developer, supporting the team in developing a user friendly, performant and scalable platform for our supporters and causes.
Main duties and responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, an engineer at the business would be responsible for
*Breaking projects down into tasks, providing estimates and requirements
*Integrating with multiple services
*Collaborating and supporting team-mates with software delivery
*Explaining concepts and ideas to non-technical stakeholders
*Triaging issues and providing solutions
*Writing testable code
*Reviewing colleagues code to help ensure quality
*Testing features before release
*Releasing code to high traffic applications
*Maintenance / support of production platform
Qualifications
*Degree in Computer Science subjects
Experience
*Modern Javascript frameworks (e.g. ExpressJs, React, Vue)
*TDD / BDD
*HTML / CSS
*GIT
*Writing standards compliant code
*Releasing code to a production environment
*Working in teams
*CI / CD
*Cloud infrastructure (E.g. AWS / Google Cloud)
*PHP development
*MySQL / NoSQL databases
*Docker
*Elasticsearch
*Microservices
General Intelligence
*Good verbal and written communication skills
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*Ability to plan your own time and identify dependencies
*Ability to debug code and help others do the same
*Ability to recognise the right solution for the task
*Ability to use command line tools
