Established 40 Year History.

For more than 40 years, Certes IT Service Solutions has continually evolved to meet the changing demands of the technology landscape. What began in 1983 as a pioneering software development company quickly grew into a trusted partner for organisations seeking specialist expertise.

By the mid-1990s, Certes had become recognised as a specialist IT recruitment provider, and our service portfolio continued to mature in line with the needs of our clients. In 2016, we returned to our technical roots by expanding into capability services focused on agile and digital delivery.

Today, Certes stands as a leading expert in IT service solutions, supporting central government with the expertise required to deliver successful digital transformation. Our history is defined by adaptability, innovation and a commitment to enabling our clients to achieve more.

1983

Established

Certes was established in 1983 as a software house providing bespoke software to organisations, based on a Hewlett Packard proprietary platform.

1987

Digital Equipment Corporation

Certes formed another software company providing the same service on a Digital Equipment Corporation proprietary platform.

1991

Bespoke Software Division

Certes formed a division that provided IT bespoke software in open systems (Unix, Windows, etc).

1994

IT Recruitment Offering

Due to continued popular demand and client requests, we converted the business into an IT Specialist Recruitment firm and began providing permanent recruitment services.

2003

Government Frameworks

Certes refined its business model and secured Government framework awards, becoming a major Central Government supplier to provide security cleared IT consultants.

2009

Graduate Programme

We formed Grad Central, which was developed to provide graduates with their first job opportunities by packaging recruitment into a service from supply to the full onboarding process.

2016

IT Capability Offering

In 2016, we moved our business to start the development of a Proof of Concept (POC) Turnkey Solution, which was a solution providing IT Capability as a managed service model.

2020

IT Managed Service Offering

The success of the Proof of Concept from 2016 has resulted in a fully formed IT Managed Service offering. Certes has expanded the core offering to still provide expert IT resources.

2023

Services Offering Expands

The launch of Discovery as a Service, Information Assurance as a Service, and additional offerings has strengthened our expanding managed service portfolio across Government and the wider public sector.

2024

Former Forces Launches

Following our first ex-military hire, we created the Former Forces Community. A safe space for military leavers and veterans to support one another through the transition into civilian life.

2026

Engineering Services

In 2026, we strengthened our in-house engineering capability to support central government and secure environments with complex, security-focused work.
