Case Study

For decades, our central government client managed sensitivity reviews through a manual, paper-based process. Physical files were reviewed and redacted before being transferred to The National Archives (TNA), resulting in a 30-year turnaround due to the labour-intensive nature of the work. 

With the growing volume of digital records, they launched the Digital Sensitivity Review Programme. This initiative brought together multiple internal and external stakeholders, leveraging a containerised hosting platform and an AI-driven software application to modernise the review process. 

Objectives

  • Reduce the turnaround time for releasing files to TNA from 30 years to 20 years. 
  • Develop a compliant digital solution aligned with TNA’s new digital portal requirements.

The increasing demand for digital file submissions to TNA created a significant backlog, requiring a complete system overhaul. 

Solution

  • Deployed experienced ex-military specialists as a flexible project management capability, to realign the programme. Establish liaison and, the implementation of a third-party software application. 
  • Focused efforts on stabilising delivery plans and schedules, ensuring concentrated progress.
