Job Description

 

Oracle Database Engineer

Duration: 6 Months

Location:West Midlands & remote (hybrid working)

Rate: £400 - £500 per day (negotiable)

IR35 Status: Inside

Start: ASAP

 

We require an Oracle Database Engineer to support a number of vendor and custom applications with Oracle as the underpinning database.  

 

Oracle Database Engineer - Essential skills & experience required:

Familiarity with working with Oracle Database 19c on Solaris.

Familiarity managing both Oracle RAC and single instance databases.

Dataguard - configuration, management and support of standby databases.

Oracle Recovery Manager.

Datapump import/export.

All aspects of day to day management of Oracle databases including strong SQL skills, performance monitoring using command line and Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, troubleshooting problems with SQL queries.

Familiar with applying Oracle patches on Oracle RAC, single instance databases and standby databases.

Confident in basic Unix skills, able to navigate and manage Oracle databases from the command line in Solaris or Linux.

Basic shell scripting experience.

ITIL Foundation - essential

Must be experienced working in a similar role within a medium to large organisation

Proficient in providing technical solutions which are focused on business outcomes and customer requirements

In-depth technical knowledge of product and service provision to ensure quality and value drive support.

Have excellent problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues

Specialist knowledge of building and maintaining databases at an enterprise level; together with improving database performance

Specialist knowledge in organising data structures

 

Desirable Skills & experience:

Familiar with Configuration Management Tools such as: Git, Puppet, Ansible

Familiar with Solaris/Linux OS configuration as it relates to databases.

PostgreSQL.

Familiar with Nagios monitoring tools.

 

For this role you will be required to attend the client site one day per fortnight.
