Raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis

By . December 20, 2018
Cystic Fibrosis is a life-shortening inherited disease caused by a faulty gene. This gene controls the movement of salt and water in and out of your cells, so the lungs and digestive system become clogged with mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food. It affects over 10,000 people in the UK and more than 2.5 million people in the UK carry the faulty gene, thats around one in 25 people. There is currently no cure.

Gemma Bowron, Certes resource consultant has been affected by Cystic Fibrosis “The need to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis is something very personal to me, having 2 nephews with the condition. Joshua, who sadly passed away in July 2014 at just 10 years of age after losing his fight with the disease and Dylan who is 9 years old and currently doing well with daily treatment to manage it, I also have a friend with CF who has just recently undergone a double lung transplant from which he is currently recovering in hospital; I know he would like me to thank the family of the donor".

Today, Certes are helping to raise awarness for Cystic Fibrosis. Look out for our Selfies (#CFYelfie) on our Facebook and Twitter.
